Meridian Chapter No. 60 Receives its Charter

April 9, 2009

Excellent High Priest Larry Stokes receives Charter from Most Excellent Grand High Priest Dan Crockett

Tuesday April 9, 2009.

At the 149th Annual Convocation of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Oregon, the Most Excellent Grand High Priest issued a Charter to Meridian Chapter, assigning it to be Meridian Chapter No. 60 on the records of the Grand Chapter.

The last time the Grand Chapter of Oregon issued a Charter was April 11, 1951, 58 years ago. The Right Excellent Grand Secretary explained how there was nothing on file and he had to have the Charter made by examining and replicating the text and watermarks from older Charters. He commented that the Charter includes a signature line for the Deputy Grand High Priest, an office that no longer exists in this Grand Jurisdiction, and that he had not realized the line was inapplicable prior to having it printed.

Meridian Chapter had seven members present at the Grand Convocation.

The newly elected Grand High Priest, Right Excellent Companion Gavin Reid, announced that an Occasional Grand Chapter will be opened on April 28, 2009 in Roseburg, Oregon for the purpose of Constituting Meridian Chapter No. 60, Royal Arch Masons and setting the Chapter to work.

By this action, Meridian Chapter shall have become the First European Concept Royal Arch Chapter in the United States of America, and the Second in North America.

The Charter reads as follows:
